LithoFrame 3D models

< Back

Dataset Description:

LithoFrame data provides 3D models of subsurface geology, at a range of scales and geographic extents.

LithoFrame data models define the geological structure and deep geology of a location and can be used to assess underground storage locations, hydrogeology, resource assessment, urban environment, artificial ground, and foundation conditions.

The following BGS LithoFrame datasets are available through the Jisc Geospatial Platform service:

LithoFrame50

  • This more detailed data is modelled at the formation level to a depth of around 1km.
  • They are suitable for planning and development purposes

Data Scale  Data Extent  Data Format
 LithoFrame50  London  ASCIIgrid (coverage only)
LithoFrame50  London  ESRI Shp (coverage only)

LithoFrame10

  • This is the highest resolution data, focused on well understood and relatively shallow superficial deposits including for example the subdivision of artificial ground, flood plain, river terrace deposits, archaeological stratigraphy and site characterisation.

Data Scale  Data Extent  Data Format
LithoFrame10  Glasgow           ASCIIgrid 25m (coverage only)
LithoFrame10  Glasgow  ESRI Shp (coverage only)
